Die kleine Insel Cabrera gehört zu der spanischen Inselgruppe der Balearen. Sie ist eine der sogenannten Ziegeninseln, da die meisten Bewohner der Insel Ziegen sind. Nur 50 Besucher täglich dürfen die Insel betreten, es gelten strenge Naturschutzregeln. Cabrera ist berühmt für seine Tauchgründe. Delfine und Meeresschildkröten kann man vor den Küsten von Cabrera entdecken, manchmal mit ein wenig Glück auch Wale.

Was zuerst nach absoluter Idylle klingt hat eine blutige Vergangenheit: Im spanischen Unabhängigkeitskrieg wurden auf Cabrera 6000 französische Kriegsgefangene eingesperrt. Die Soldaten Napoleons wurden mit sehr wenig Wasser und Nahrung versorgt und ein Großteil von ihnen starb an den Folgen dieser grausamen Gefangenschaft.
